Then you'll have a brief (and lame) platforming section, and then into the next big arena. ![]() Most combat encounters so far are literally just entering a gigantic arena and facing off against dozens, if not hundreds, of demons and enemies. More of a throwback to the older FPS games / arena shooters. In Doom Eternal, the game plays very arcade-like. Progression overall just felt more varied and better balanced. Lastly, I felt that Doom 2016 offered a bit more exploration and platforming. I remember being able to use nearly any weapon or technique to make it through scuffles in Doom 2016. In addition, it also felt like they had a few more options for viable ways to play them. As in, fight five of this particular enemy, or fight from this particular piece of terrain. ![]() I personally don't care for it as much.įor example, Doom 2016 had combat encounters that felt more themed or scenario-based. I was hoping for more of the same (and even better) with Doom Eternal but this game changes up the formula and offers a very different style of gameplay than what was in Doom 2016. ![]()
